The World Space Elevator Competitions (WSPEC) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing space elevator technology. It brings together teams to take part in challenges that encourage bold ideas and new solutions. Through these competitions, WSPEC promotes innovation across science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) and aims to change the way we think about getting to space.

Our goal is to build a strong, diverse community that drives real progress and pushes the limits of what's possible.

TETHER CLIMBER
Participants design and test robotic climbers designed to travel up a vertical ribbon while carrying a payload. Innovating the key systems that could carry cargo into space without rockets, creating a scalable, reliable, and more sustainable way to reach orbit.

POWER BEAM
Participants develop systems to wirelessly transmit energy over short distances, simulating how space elevators could be powered without the need for onboard fuel. The focus is on efficiency and reliability of energy transfer, with teams exploring beam control, receiver design, and power-to-weight optimization.
