WSPEC Announces First Workshop and Highlights Global Engagement at ISEC Conference 2025
The next era of space access is being built today.
WSPEC, the World Space Elevator Competitions, is connecting universities, researchers, and innovators across the globe to advance the technologies that could one day revolutionize how humanity reaches orbit.
In 2025, WSPEC reached several important milestones in its mission to promote global collaboration in space elevator development and education.
WSPEC’s First Workshop: Mongolia 2025
WSPEC is proud to announce its first-ever virtual workshop, hosted by the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST).
This event marks a key milestone in WSPEC’s mission to unite students and researchers who are passionate about the future of space access. Participants will gain insight into forming effective teams, developing climbing concepts, and participating in upcoming international competitions.

WSPEC at the ISEC Conference 2025
WSPEC took part in the International Space Elevator Consortium (ISEC) Conference 2025, where its leadership presented the organization’s global vision and educational mission.
Mordy Friedman (CEO, WSPEC) introduced WSPEC’s initiative to unite regional challenges under one global framework, encouraging innovation in robotics, materials science, and power transmission. His presentation emphasized how competitive environments can accelerate progress toward real-world technologies and enable sustainable access to space.

Alexander Joham (CMO, WSPEC) delivered a presentation titled “Climbing Toward the Future,” showcasing how student teams — such as WARR Space Robotics — advance climber technologies and strengthen WSPEC’s educational mission. His talk also reflected on the legacy of European and Japanese competitions, highlighting WSPEC’s role in creating a unified international platform for the next generation of space elevator development.
